Huanqing Chen (陈 睆清)
I'm a CITA postdoc fellow at the University of Toronto. I received my PhD in astrophysics from University of Chicago. My research focuses on quasar proximity zones - large regions where quasar radiation dominates. These are new windows to study the Epoch of Reionization (EoR). I use simulations to understand how the radiative feedback from quasars impacts surrounding galaxies, and how we can recover the properties of the intergalactic medium (IGM) from observational data.
Prior to working on EoR, I studied galaxy clusters using both X-ray observations and simulations. When I'm not doing research, I enjoy participating in public outreach and volunteering. Additionally, I play in a recreational hockey league and enjoy traveling to meet new people and animals.
